Git on IBM i Part 3 - Ray Bernardi

Git is an integral piece to a complete DevOps cycle, a cycle you can easily tie together with tools aware of the intricacies of the IBM i platform. You may like the collaboration Git provides on its own and also want the social features GitHub brings, but how can all that be integrated on a platform which, to be frank, wasn’t built with Agile in mind? It is possible to have the best of both worlds – an Agile workflow which greatly increases productivity and the stability that the IBM i platform brings. This session will show you things you may not have thought possible, such as taking IBM i native code from a GitHub repository, building it directly on IBM i, and deploying the objects to an automated test environment. But it doesn’t stop there! We will examine a complete CI/CD workflow, from a feature branch all the way to a production deployment. All of this and more is possible with a tightly integrated toolset.
